About Us
St. Louis Survivors Legal Support (SLSLS) is a nonprofit organization that provides free legal services to survivors seeking protection from intimate partner violence in the St. Louis region. We are a small but growing team of dedicated professionals and volunteers who believe every survivor deserves a lawyer by their side. We seek an experienced Advancement Director to lead and execute a comprehensive development strategy that sustains and expands our impact.
Position Summary
The Advancement Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing SLSLS’s fundraising and development efforts. This role works closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors’ Advancement Committee to build diverse, sustainable revenue streams through grants, individual giving, events, campaigns, and partnerships. The Advancement Manager plays a key strategic role in positioning the organization for long-term financial health.
Key Responsibilities
Advancement Strategy & Leadership
Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising strategy, including grants, appeals, campaigns, major gifts, and events
Work closely with the Executive Director and Board Advancement Committee to set priorities, goals, and strategy
Cultivate new sources of financial support and strategic partners
Grant Management
Prospect, research, and identify grant opportunities aligned with SLSLS’s mission
Prepare, submit, and manage grant applications
Ensure timely reporting and ongoing grant compliance
Donor Stewardship & Outreach
Build and maintain strong relationships with individual donors and institutional funders
Ensure all gifts are acknowledged in a timely, personal, and meaningful manner
Design and execute donor stewardship activities and communications
Executive & Board Support
Advise the Executive Director on which stakeholders to meet with
Prepare briefing materials and talking points to support Executive Director meetings
Support and engage board members in fundraising and donor cultivation
Events, Marketing & Communications
Plan and execute fundraising and stewardship events
Collaborate on marketing, communications, and public-facing materials to support development efforts
Leverage current technology and tools to amplify fundraising and outreach
Data, Systems & Reporting
Maintain and manage the donor management system (Salesforce)
Track fundraising activity, donor engagement, and outcomes
Prepare regular reports (with metric evaluations, projections and analytics) for leadership, the Board and donors
Maintain SLSLS website and online donor platform
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Marketing, Communications or related fields
5 years of proven fundraising experience strongly preferred
CFRE and/or similar certifications strongly preferred
Demonstrated success in grant writing, donor cultivation, and fundraising strategy
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience working with senior leadership and boards
High level of organization, initiative, and attention to detail

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $80,000 annually

We seek a compassionate, mission-driven attorney to represent survivors in Order of Protection and related custody matters.
Position Overview: The Custody Attorney will represent survivors who share children with their abusers in Order of Protection and custody cases (as part of dissolution or paternity matters). This role offers an opportunity to do deeply meaningful, life-changing work with the support of highly experienced attorneys and a collaborative nonprofit environment.
Key Responsibilities
Represent SLSLS clients who share children with their abusers in their Order of Protection cases and in their companion custody proceedings.
Prepare pleadings, motions, and other court filings.
Advocate for clients in court, ensuring their voices are heard and their safety prioritized.
Collaborate with SLSLS staff and partners to provide holistic support to survivors.
Maintain accurate case files and data for grant reporting and compliance.
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school; admission to the Missouri Bar.
Family law or litigation experience is preferred but not required. SLSLS provides top-notch on-the-job mentoring by seasoned attorneys.
Strong commitment to serving survivors of intimate partner violence.
Excellent oral advocacy, writing, and organizational skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment.
